Open-source beer and methane lighting

A couple of recent ideas covered by Wired which are worthy of note to GIB-readers.....:

- Open Source Beer - probably the first beer whose recipe is published under a Creative Commons license...whether this becomes the "Linux of beer", we will see, but it does further the debate about what open-source ethos and methods can bring to the concrete, non-software world....

- Rwandan Prison Waste Electricity Project - a curious one, this: Rwandan prisoners' faeces are being used to create methane to power the cooking of their food and other services; an interesting story which shows how interesting solutions can sometimes arise from the most harrowing of problems....
